Merel de Haan (1983, Amsterdam) studied Fashion Design at Amsterdam Fashion Institute and Fine Arts at St. Joost in Den Bosch.
Her dynamic, frivolous style has its roots in a love for comic books in her childhood and a fascination for the topic of sexuality. The women and shapes in her drawings move and play on the energy that is activated in the process of making. They show the pushing, the swaying, the doing, the not doing, the surrendering, the chaos, the waiting or the flowing that arises while creating.
Her work is the visualisation of the search for a state in where there is pleasure, flow and playfulness.
Merels colourful tapestries are also used during a session at her practice for energetic bodywork.
